Roxane CollinsSurgery
Roxane Collins, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS, is a board-certified veterinary surgeon at AnimERge in Somerset County.
Dr. Collins spent her formative years on the open plains of Colorado where among many other unusual skills she learned how to milk cows by hand. It was her experience on the farm, interacting with cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, dogs and cats that led her to choose a career in veterinary medicine. Once in the veterinary curriculum at Colorado State University she fell in love with surgery; every day was another opportunity to remove disease or mend a bone.
Dr. Collins focused her veterinary education specifically on small animal surgery in 1994. She did a rotating internship at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, and was invited to become a surgical resident. After her residency she was asked to stay at the veterinary teaching hospital as a clinical instructor for one year.
Dr. Collins moved to New Jersey with her husband in 1999 at which time she ran a mobile surgery service in northwestern New Jersey for one year before joining the surgery team at Garden State Veterinary Specialists. In 2007, Dr. Collins started the Animerge surgery service.
When not at the hospital, Dr. Collins loves to ride her bike. She can be seen riding her bike to and from the Animerge hospital in the summer months!
